Lemon Cuckoo Niederrheiners were introduced into the United States in 2014. In 2021 the breeding population was reported to be 1660. This dual purpose breed has a sweet docile demeanor and lays around 200 light tan eggs per year. Some of my girlies eggs have heavy blooms, appearing pink and I strive to breed for all the speckles 🥰. I purchased my lines from 5 separate breeders in the United States and it shows with the vast array of egg colors I get. Slowly but surely, I will be breeding for Jumbo, heavy blooms and speckles. This breed is 100% a MUST for homesteaders wanting self sufficiency. Their meat is fantastic and so tender. While they take double the time to grow out than a Cornish Cross, it’s so worth it to be able to raise happy healthy babies from the very eggs they produce in a self sustainable way 🍋💛🌱
